GERMAIN-ROBIN Mistelle of Muscat (Ltd. Old & Rare Offering)
Mistelle, an aperitif produced by adding enough brandy to fresh grape juice to prevent fermentation, was a project dear to Hubert’s heart. Muscat was his white grape of choice, from Don Colombini’s old-vine planting; we distilled his grapes but pulled a few gallons fresh from the crush for this uncommon delight. It dates from likely 1990, and is as unique as things get. The bottle we tasted was fabulous. “Ethereal” is what came to mind. We cannot guarantee that they are all as good as the one we tried: if your bottle is off (who ages mistelle for 30 years?), we’ll refund. Only 2 bottles.
